Linda and Russ Patterson have travelled all the way to St. John’s for the Canada Games, out of pure passion for the event and a desire to support Team Manitoba. After volunteering at the 2017 Canada Games in Winnipeg, they were eager to experience the Games from a different perspective and cheer on athletes, including those they know from the women’s basketball team.

Their trip to Newfoundland and Labrador is a blend of supporting Team Manitoba and exploring the beautiful city. Having already attended basketball and tennis events, they plan to catch volleyball and baseball games in the coming days. The Pattersons are fully immersed in the two-week event, committed to cheering for their province’s athletes, with special pride in seeing Uloma Isinguzo, a player Russ coached at the Manitoba Games, compete at this higher level.

Beyond the Games, they’re also soaking in the vibrant atmosphere of Newfoundland and the colorful surroundings of the city. It's their first time visiting, and they’re making the most of both the competition and the experience.
