Quick Hits with Maisy Shewchuk: Team Manitoba's Youngest Athlete

Maisy Shewchuk (Winnipeg) is 12 years old, and making her debut at the 2025 Canada Summer Games. She's golfed for seven years, and in the last year alone has earned the top spot at the Provincial Junior championship (Manitoba), the Trump doral optimist qualifier, and the Manitoba Games.

She golfs out of Quarry Oaks Golf Course and her goals for the Games are to play consistent golf, to have a great experience, to make friends, and to have fun!

We caught up with Maisy after her last round here at the Canada Games.

How old were you when you first picked up a golf club?

When I was 3 years old

What’s your favorite club in your bag — and why?

My 5 wood, I just always feel so confident with it.

Do you have a certain routine or mantra before you tee off?

Before my teetime I always practice long shots 1st, then chipping, then putting.

If you could play a round of golf with any celebrity or athlete, who would it be?

Brooke Henderson.

What snack do you always keep in your golf bag?

It'd have to be protein bars.

What are you most excited about at the Canada Games?

I’m excited about golfing all 4 rounds and meeting new friends
