Making Waves for Manitoba:
The Swim Team’s Road to the 2025 Canada Summer Games

Swim Natation Manitoba’s group of young athletes has emerged through rigorous competition and unwavering dedication, embodying the spirit Team Toba is known for.

Talent and Tenacity in Equal Measure

The team members were chosen following standout performances across provincial and national meets. Each swimmer has demonstrated not just raw speed, but also remarkable maturity, perseverance, and sportsmanship—marking them as the next generation of Manitoba’s elite athletes. Training all season long, they have refined their strokes, built endurance, and embraced mental toughness in preparation for multi-event heats, relay finals, and team challenges ahead.

Expert Coaching and Support

The coaching staff, Szilvie Carriere, Craig McCormick, Cam Harbeck, Alex Shogolev, and Melissa Diamond are armed with deep expertise, focused on fine-tuning race strategy, improving recovery tactics, and reinforcing the psychological resilience swimmers will need under Games pressure. A dedicated team of managers, Charaty Rees and Jeremie Flint were selected alongside the swimmers, and provide crucial logistical support to foster a cohesive, supportive atmosphere.

A Launchpad for the Future

Coming off a season that culminated with the ManSask Long Course Championships at Pan Am Pool—an event heralded as electric, featuring nearly 460 swimmers from across Western Canada—Manitoba’s athletes will arrive at the Canada Games ready to rise. That provincial meet served as their final proving ground, boosting both confidence and momentum.

More Than Medals

For these young swimmers, the Games are more than competition. They are a ground for personal development—gaining resilience from early morning training sessions, the camaraderie of teammates, confronting nerves, and celebrating shared victories. It’s about building character and community as much as chasing podiums.

Ready for St. John’s

Come August, Team Manitoba’s swim team—girls under 17, boys under 18—will dive into St. John’s pools with purpose, unity, and pride. Behind them stands a province, a coaching staff, and mission leaders committed to their success both in competition and beyond.

With every stroke, dive, and turn, Manitoba’s young swimmers will carry forward the legacy of Team Toba—demonstrating resilience, unity, and the enduring spirit of the province’s next generation of champions.
